After attaining his law degree in Slovenia, Mitja continued his postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford, focusing primarily on competition law and EU law. Prior to establishing his independent practice, Mitja served at the High Court of Ljubljana and worked for several years at a leading Slovenian law firm (Law Firm Rojs, Peljhan, Prelesnik & partners), where he was involved in major M&A transactions, antitrust investigations, litigation proceedings and commercial deals.
With his extensive experience both locally and abroad, Mitja is able to provide clients with quality advisory and compliance services covering an array of different legal fields ranging from telecommunications, media and construction to environmental, energy, consumer and intellectual property matters. In addition to his strong advisory skills, he is also known for his work in litigation, which also includes representation of Clients before the EU courts as well before the Slovene courts and authorities.
Mitja is also regularly involved in merger notifications to the Slovenian Competition Protection Agency and the European Commission as well as various antitrust cases conducted by both national and EU authorities. His expertise covers investigations, abuse of dominance and cartel cases, state aid matters, merger control and competition law compliance.
As a legal author, Mitja was published as a contributor to the Commentary on the Prevention of Restriction of Competition Act and in various local and international law reviews (European Competition Law Review, Journal for commercial, labour and social law…). Mitja also regularly participates as a lecturer at law conferences (Slovene Lawyers Annual Conference (2013), II. International Judicial Conference (2013) – Supreme Court of Slovenia, The Challenges of Slovene Recycling Industry (2014), Academic conference on EC Competition Law (2009)…) and international projects (project Approximation of the legislation with EU Acquis on Free Movement of Services and Competition Protection – Montenegro).«
